A drop the size of a pin head is enough, literally, to do both eyes. The back of the tube recommends dotting a bit on a fingertip and patting that underneath your eyes, but I tried that and wasn’t too crazy about the way it turned out. I thought it looked a little heavy…

Instead, I load a smidgen on the back of my hand, where I sheer it out using a synthetic tapered blending brush (you could use a brush with natural fibers for this, but I find that synthetic brush heads normally have stiffer bristles, which in this case manage the thick-ish formula better.)

Once I’ve sheered it down on my hand, I’ll load some from there, and then buff that under my eyes using small, tight circles; if I need to, I’ll go back in with a second thin layer.

Lastly, to set the product so it lasts, I’ll pat a small amount of Trish McEvoy’s Line Refiner over the top of it using the same brush.

Sure, you could set it with powder (like Laura’s secret Brightening Powder), but when I tried it, and I didn’t take the time to really buff and blend it in, I looked like I was wearing pie crust.

Even though we don’t really experience severe winter season weather in the Bay Area, thanks to indoor heating and cooler temperatures, I still load up on moisturizers, and these are my current favorites for keeping my skin moisturized and soft:

My nighttime skincare routine is sort of long, but I love it. I turn it into a small pampering session, and I’ll double-cleanse, tone, add a serum, then a moisturizer, then a facial oil…and this is on my “low key” nights!

Lately, I’ve been using Murad Hydro-Dynamic supreme Moisture at night (you can check out my nighttime skincare routine here). It’s packed with avocado, sunflower and olive oils, and even though it also has shea butter, it somehow manages to feel light. I’ve only been using it for a couple of weeks, but my skin feels really soft and plump in the morning after I use it. I’ve discovered no irritation, either, so this is a certain winner. It’s available now at Sephora for $72.

Murad Hydro-Dynamic Quenching Essence is another new product for me, and it’s awesome! I’ve been curious about essences because the whole K-beauty craze hit last year, so I was very thrilled to try it out. It has a very lightweight texture that soaks best into my skin and doesn’t leave it feeling greasy at all. Right now, I layer it under either Murad Hydro-Dynamic supreme moisture (night) or Kiehl’s Ultra Facial cream (day), but I could see myself wearing this alone with just sunscreen during the summer.

It also has glycolic acid, which is a gentle exfoliator that helps to even your skintone. I am so pleased with how this adds just the best increase of moisture to my skin, and if you have a moisturizer that leaves your skin dry towards the end of the day, consider adding something like this to your skincare routine. Or, if you have oily skin but need light moisture, this could be perfect. It’s available now at Sephora for $78.

Kiehl’s is one of my go-to skincare brands, and whenever I need something, whether it’s an eye cream or cleanser, I typically head to Kiehl’s first.  

Kiehls Ultra Facial cream is one of their best sellers for good reason. It just works. It moisturizes my skin without irritating it whatsoever or clogging my pores. It’s one of my year round products. during cooler months I’ll layer it, and during the warmer months it works terrific alone.

If you have normal skin and you’re searching for an everyday (and night) moisturizer, certainly check it out. It’s available now at Nordstrom for $27.50.

As for when my skin is feeling dry and irritated, I right away reach for first aid charm Ultra repair instant moisture Mask. loaded with oatmeal and botanicals, it is so good! It’s very soothing, moisturizing, and feels really thick, but it’s still easy to spread over your face. I always bring it with me when I travel and apply it best after flights, and I also use it whenever my skin is acting up.

If you have sensitive and/or dry skin, look into this. Sephora also has cute little sets with small sizes, making it even much more ideal for travel. It’s available now at Sephora for $22 (or the travel size is $9).

I’m a dedicated Shu Uemura lash curler girl, and when mine went missing a few years back, I seriously lost my sh*t! Like, I had a full-on ballistic meltdown.

But I’m also a curious kitty who likes to meow new thangs.

This one is designed, first and foremost, for deep-set eyes (which I don’t really have) and incorporates advanced Cyberdyne Systems-like technology, like an “extreme curved band shape” for dramatic lash curls. It’s also extra large and has a long manage to help you get as close as mathematically possible to your lash lines…

Yeah…it actually does, but it takes a little getting used to. It’s quite large, and I kept pinching my lashes on my first few tries, which could be partly due to muscle memory, considering that I’ve spent 10 years using Shu’s curler.

This curler nicely lifts my lashes, though — especially the ones on the ends that are inherently harder to curl — and the effect is pretty dramatic and defined. It’s a good starting point for mascara.

I’m still hooked on Shu’s curler and don’t see myself ever giving it up, but the Sephora Collection show curl XL is a worthy contender. It might also be the cat’s meow if you have deep-set eyes.

HOW scary IS THIS CONTRAPTION?

The first time I ran the comb through my lashes, I thought of that chant from the end of A Christmas Story. “You’ll shoot your eye out, kid!”

Thankfully, I have not, yet.

Um…so this one’s genuinely innovative. It’s a lash comb, but the teeth are set up vertically, so instead of holding the manage parallel to your lash line, you hold it perpendicular.

I think it’s about a million times much easier to use than conventional lash combs, like, I don’t have to hold it at odd angles. I just hold the brush above my lashes, and brush down a few times.

It’s way a lot more intuitive and, I guess, ergonomic than old-fashioned lash combs. absolutely much easier to manipulate and hold, and it separates lashes well.

Added bonus? The comb folds in half for travel-friendly convenience.

I’m not a hardcore contouring fan all the time, but I’ll go there on occasion.

After I got beyond the intimidation aspect from this synthetic brush’s curved head, I realized that using it is, in fact, intuitive.

It fits snugly under my cheekbones and reaches ideal where I like to place contouring products — in this case, probably creams, as they play well with synthetic fibers — around the edges of my forehead.

I’ve started using it with the new cream BECCA Lowlight/Highlight Perfecting Palette, and I like the way it carves out my cheekbones.

The only thing is…its shape makes it a little challenging to evenly load with cream products that come in flat pans (read: a lot of of them). I end up pressing the brush head into the pan and wiggling it side to side. then I gently massage the brush head in the palm of my hand to saturate the soft, dense bristles.

Incidentally, I bet this will also be a good brush for applying and/or blending foundation.

On the one hand, I desperately want to tell you about the Nordstrom Instagram feed, but on the other, I’m terrified what could happen if I do.

Your lemming list could increase 10 fold! Gah!

I can’t stop thinking about this Mixed print fit and Flare dress by Taylor dresses ($148).

I love those stripes with that floral pattern. Plus, the colors! incredibly pretty.

It’s nowhere near warm enough to wear it yet, but oh! Již brzy…

Right now it’s patiently sitting in my cart, waiting for me to pull the trigger.

Also, these Valentino Rockstud T-Strap Pumps haunt my dreams…

Né vážně. I’ve actually dreamt about these shoes, and that’s where they’ll remain — in my dreams — because THEY ARE $995.

If I were making it rain on a daily basis, hells yeah, I’d find a way to get these out of my dreams, and into my car (BillY OCEAN REF!), Ale to není případ, takže teď musím chtít chtít.
